Did you know there are more than 1,000 different species of snails in the world? That’s a lot of snails! Many live on land but some live in the water, too! In some countries, snails are a delicacy for eating! Here are some fantastic snail photos from around the world at National Geographic. One interesting book is “Are You a Snail?” by Judy Allen and Tudor Humphries (published by Backyard Books).
It’s fun to hear people speak in another language. Listen to the story below in French, Spanish, Mandarin, and Japanese. Do you recognize any of the words?

If any of these “snail snippets” have whetted your appetite, plan a visit to your local library… or take a trip on the world-wide web to learn more!
This story was created as a song for the author’s son. Listen to musicians perform it for you, then get the sheet music and perform it yourself! Which instrument(s) will you play? Can you give it a unique twist… like country, jazz, or classical?
The author’s son grew up with an insatiable curiosity about the world and all of its creatures. One rainy day outside their home in California, Marji watched Ryan follow a snail over the sidewalk… prompting the original song for this story.
Based on that song written years ago, this contemporary nursery rhyme and interactive website are dedicated to the newest member of the family, Lily Kathryn. The website activities are designed to help young readers make early connections between Art, Languages, Music, Science, and Technology… and provide hours of learning fun. Additional Lily Kathryn adventures are due out this summer.
Here at the Price Talent Shop, we hope all visitors (big and small) will stay forever curious about the wonderful adventures waiting in good books–and those just beyond their own front door.
Marji is working on additional Lily Kathryn adventures with fantastic creatures like ladybugs, eels, and grasshoppers!

Religious Music
Marji got the inspiration for one of her earliest songs while serving a church mission. Her brother, Clark Kelley Price, served his mission in the South Pacific and illustrated the cover for Missionary Morning. You can learn about Clark’s work as a western and religious artist at www.clarkkelleyprice.com
Listen to a recording of “Missionary Morning” and download the sheet music to perform it yourself.
Jingles, Singing Telegrams
While teaching in Europe, Marji collaborated with some very talented musicians based in Estonia. These artists loved American Big Band and Jazz music, and performed in a traveling group called the “Politseiorkestri” (Police Orchestra). You can listen below to a few clips from the album Marji recorded with them, and learn about their current work here.
