Marji launched her first small business while taking a community college marketing class. With $1,000 in startup funds, she created a greeting card line for the balloon & floral industries – selling nearly half a million cards to wholesale distributors who, in turn, serviced retail shops throughout the U.S. Marji later licensed her designs with a balloon manufacturer out of Texas, who marketed those designs on their balloons along with the matching gift cards.
The idea for the card line was sparked by Marji’s friend who ran a balloon delivery and singing telegram service. At the time, there were no greeting cards tailored to the balloon industry, and that realization prompted Marji to create the new product (shown in the photo).
Marji’s friend also asked her to write some musical telegrams that could be performed for clients, in addition to the traditional “Happy Birthday” song. Marji wrote and recorded several, like the “Shock of Aging” example shown below – targeted to older adults for their 40th, 50th, and 60th birthdays.

Marji Price has a background in advertising and education – and thrives on creativity, helping others, and continual learning. Her international travels (15 countries and counting), her service in the US military and on a church mission, and the opportunity to teach and learn from international students at universities in Canada, Europe, and the U.S., have all shaped Marji’s view of the world – impacting her entrepreneurial ventures and the use of her talents.
As a college instructor, Marji has met some amazingly talented young artists and entrepreneurs over the years – and come to believe that collaborating with them, and promoting their talent, is an important part of “paying it forward” for all the growth experiences that God has lovingly placed in her path.
Marji’s newest venture is the creation of a housing development in a rural farming area outside Rexburg, Idaho, called “Country Cottages.” This pocket community is designed with the Tiny Home movement in mind, and intended to make affordable homes of 200-900 square feet available to 1st time buyers, empty nesters, family investors, and nomads like herself – who consider having a “low-to-no mortgage” and the freedom to travel important facets of living well. Marji has teamed up with a talented young builder and graduate of the BYU-Idaho Engineering program, whose main ambition is to travel to other countries – designing and building innovative, affordable housing that changes lives and empowers others – as his life’s mission. (More to come on Joshua Ruby).
Marji’s most favorite adventure, however, is being a mom and grandma – and her Lily Kathryn books are dedicated to her son, daughter-in-law, and their curly-haired, impossibly cute, perpetually curious daughter Lily. The first book, “Lily Kathryn and the Rainy Day Snail’s Tale,” is available on Amazon in Kindle and hard copy – with additional adventures coming soon and featuring fantastic creatures like ladybugs, grasshoppers, and eels! You can read more about this series on the “Books and Music” tab of this website.
